Khodorkovsky startup attracts major investment

According to the the Wall Street Journal, Pavel Khodorkovsly, son of former Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky, has attracted $700k of investment in his energy efficiency technology startup Enertiv Inc.

Among those behind the investment were members of Vaidya Capital Partners and R/GA Ventures, as well as Cameron Drummond, Stephen Plumlee, Jerry Kestenbaum, Asad Husain and Daniel Feldman.

Pavel Khodorkovsky and his college mate Connel McGill founded the company in New York in 2010, and recently joined R/GA and TechStars’s acceleration program. His father, former oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, previously invested $550 in the project.

Moving to the US in 2003, Pavel Khodorkovsky  graduated with a BSc in Business Administration from Babson College, specialising in Information Systems Management. He is also the Director of the Institute of Modern Russia, which he founded at Princeton in 2010, in order to stimulate Russia's democratic and economic development.
