Saatchi & Saatchi Moscow to support Russian startup

0 7 December 2013

The Russian division of the international advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi will help develop advertising campaigns for the most creative Russian startups, they have announced. The initiative will take place in 2014, as part of the ‘Creative Startup’ project, in partnership with the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF). According to its organisers, the aim of the project is to assist in growing the creative potential of Russian internet entrepreneurship.

Aleksander Izryadnov, Communication Director of the Internet Initiative Development Fund, said: “It’s not very often that a startup can afford the services of the world’s leading agencies to help with the development and execution of their advertising campaign. This is a unique project, which will allow the startup to project their image both in Russia and abroad, with the help of Saatchi & Saatchi. Judging from the agency’s client list alone the young entrepreneurs will benefit hugely from their work with them.”

Saatchi & Saatchi’s creative team will select the startup from the current residents of FRII, a new state-backed accelerator in Moscow, according to the following criteria: originality of the product or business idea; enthusiasm of the team and readiness to break down stereotypes in business; openness to original approaches to business promotion.

“We consider this a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate the power of creative ideas in business,” said Shannon Cullum, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Russia. “At the heart of each of these startups is a strong idea, and this is the key for the sustainable development of any business, and the country as a whole. We want to support the business ideas of those aspiring entrepreneurs who are thinking outside the box, and we want to do this right from the beginning.”

Following the review of applications, along with face to face meetings with the teams of startups, a shortlist was drawn up of those who meet with the competition’s criteria. The 9 companies which make up the shortlist are as follows: Dve Ladoshki, BUBUKA, Dr. Tariff, Newswired, Notissimus, SMDTP, SkiRacer, Appnow and eZWay. The winning startup will be chosen at the end of the year.

Saatchi & Saatchi are a global advertising agency, part of the Publicis Groupe. Among their network of clients are Deutsche Telekom/T-Mobile, General Mills, Kraft Foods/Cadbury, Mead Johnson, Novartis, Procter & Gamble, Sony Ericsson, Toyota and VISA Europe. They have 140 offices around the world, and over 6,000 employees.
