IT competition to be held in November by Skolkovo

The Skolkovo fund, along with the Voronezh Oblast Association of IT Entrepreneurs and the Association of Interregional Socio-economic Dependence of the Central Federal District are to hold a regional IT competition called IT-Chornozemlye. Microsoft, The Fund for Internet Development Initiatives (FRII) and the mobile network Tele 2 are all partners in the competition.

The best of the participating projects could receive project development grants from Skolkovo worth up to $140k. Teams winning categories sponsored by the competition partners will receive special prizes.

The competition will take place across the whole of Central Chernozyem (Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Belgorod and Tambov). Residents of the whole of the region above 18 years of age are invited to participate, as well as working groups.

Applications for the competition will be accepted until 30th September 2014via the competition’s official site

Successful applicants will take part in the first round, with those that make it through entering the semi-final, which will take place at the end of November 2014 in Voronezh.

The final will be judged by an expert panel made up of representatives of the organisers and partner organisations, who will choose the winners in the following categories:

-         Energy efficiency and housing and utilities technology

-         Technology for the social sector

-         E-commerce

-         Central Chernozyem’s most innovative project

-         Strategic computer technology and software

Partners’ categories:

-         Tele2: Best telecommunications project

-         Microsoft: Best project based on Microsoft technology
