Putin says there is no need to introduce new restrictions on the internet

0 5 December 2013

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, has recently denied the need for new restrictions on the internet, as already existing constraints are proving sufficient.

At a meeting with law students, Putin said that “it wouldn’t be logical to add more restrictions onto the internet as enough have already been introduced. You can’t reduce all internet activities to zero, as it is in some other countries. It’s too much.”

According to Putin, regulating information on the internet must be done very carefully. In his opinion, everything is already being done as it should be legally.

“The internet is one of the main areas of our lives; a platform for communication. If you try to completely restrict it to the public, we will find ourselves acting immorally” Putin said.
